Comfort Expert Builders builds custom detached garages in Star, Idaho and across the Treasure Valley. A detached garage adds parking, storage or a workspace without changing your house. We build any size your lot allows, with power, heat, plumbing, a bathroom or a loft. Every garage is stick-framed, and we handle all the permits. Call (208) 991-8068.
A detached garage is a garage that stands on its own. It is not connected to your house. It sits on its own slab, with its own walls and roof.
That gives you a lot of freedom. You can place it where it works best on your lot. You can make it as simple or as finished as you like. And you add space without tearing into your home.
We do not use stock plans. Every detached garage we build is custom.
Some owners want a two-car garage for parking. Some want three or four bays. Others want a garage with a deep side for a workbench, or a tall bay for a boat or trailer. We plan the size, the doors and the layout around how you will use it.
Your land shapes the plan too. Setbacks, slope, driveway access and utilities all matter. We look at your lot first, then size the garage to fit it and the local rules.
A detached garage can be much more than a place for cars. Our clients use theirs as:
Want a place for your RV? See our RV garage options page.
You choose how finished your garage is. We can add:
These add-ons turn a plain garage into a space you can use every day.
Where the garage sits matters as much as how big it is. Before we plan the size, we walk your property with you.
We look at a few things:
If you’re in an HOA, the spot and the look of the garage may need their approval too. We’ll help you sort that out before we build.
We build every detached garage with stick framing on a concrete slab. We do not build pole barns, steel buildings or prefab kits.
Stick framing is easy to insulate and finish. It takes the same siding, trim and roofing as your house. So your new garage looks like it belongs on the property.
We run the whole job, so you only deal with one team:
A detached garage is an accessory building. Most cities and counties need a permit for one. The rules cover size, height and how close it can sit to your property lines.
We pull all the permits and work with the inspectors. For example, the Ada County Building Division asks for accessory structures to be included with home permit plans. Each city and county has its own process, and we handle it for you. If you have an HOA, we help you with their rules too.
We are based in Star. We build detached garages across the Treasure Valley, including Star, Boise, Middleton, Caldwell, Emmett and Kuna.

First time doing any kind of construction and an ADU above our garage was quite the experience! Alex was good at letting us know each step of the way. We had a hiccup with cabinets....but even with that delay, project was done within a week of when he said it would b done! I've been told, in the construction world, that's miracle! He worked with us to keep us within our budget....even assisting on some areas so it would b amazing! I loved that he didn't "nickle & dime" us to death!! Anything extra needed was carefully shared & explained. The finished product is so much more than we could have hoped for & admired by all who view it! Thank you Alex & CEB!!Posted on Google![]()

We recently had the pleasure of working with Alex from Comfort Expert Builders, who completed a ~1400SQ FT addition above our garage. From start to finish, Alex was great to work with. He was professional, approachable, and always ready to address any questions or concerns. His team moved quickly and completed our project in an impressive 3-months! Throughout the project, Alex maintained excellent communication, keeping us informed of progress and any potential issues. The construction estimate was accurate, and there were no unexpected costs or surprises. His level of honesty and reliability is rare and highly appreciated. Overall, I would highly recommend Comfort Expert Builders for any home construction projects.Posted on Google![]()

Alex and his team have been a pleasure to work with! First of all, always easy to communicate with, and responding in a timely fashion. We always felt comfortable asking questions, and if a change in the plan was needed, they were accommodating and patient. And secondly, very professional and work quality speaks for itself. Would definitely recommend to friends and family!
The cost depends on the size, site work and what you add inside. A plain two-car garage costs less than a heated shop with a bathroom. We give you a clear estimate after we see your lot.

Yes. Once the garage has power, you can extend your home wifi to it. Tell us early if you want a wired network line, so we can plan for it.

In most cases, yes. We pull all permits for you.
It depends on what you’ll keep inside and how much room your lot has. Think about how many vehicles you’ll park, whether you need a workbench, and if you want storage or a loft overhead. We help you size it during the site visit.
Yes. We can add plumbing for a half or full bathroom, or a utility sink. We plan the water and sewer lines with the rest of the build.
Tell us about your lot and how you want to use the space. We will come out and plan a garage that fits. Call (208) 991-8068 or fill out the form.
